The airbag light on my mk4 R32 has just came on so put my code reader on it and it flagged up fault code 00655 seatbelt tensioner igniter-n154. Has any one came across the same fault? Stops the light coming on and no airbag deactivated message on startup. Or just snip the cables on either side of the connector and solder them.

The reason is the EGR valve which I don't want to replace because I have got no money and after some reasearch I heard that the egr valve is not that importan so I did unplugged the wire and now the car works fine. the Component: 1M AIRBAG VW51 02 0006. You need to build a resistor for each airbag to keep the light off. If you mean bypassing the Airbag light, that is an MOT fail. Just like the ABS, the testers want to see the light come on, then go off. No light at all will be an instant fail. the only way if you do not have an inhibitor switch is to have the convienience module reprogrammed by volkswagen. disconnecting the passenger airbag isnt such a hard job, infact its quite easy, the way its done is by disconnecting the plug from the side of the airbag and fitting a resistor to the vehicle loom (kit from vw comes with a resistor Both work again no problem. However, on the seats I couldn't clear the code in order to turn the airbag light off. I wasn't surprised by this, as I knew I would need a resistor, or something along those lines. I heard something about taking the car over 40mph and it would clear the light off, which I did try but that wasn't the case.
